Homeowner Basics

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Homeowner Basics ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Information you provide: if you email us, we receive your email address and message content so we can respond.
  • Email signups: if you sign up to hear about new free printables, the form sends your email address to us through FormSubmit, a form-delivery service, and the address is kept in our email inbox. We use it only to announce new printables — no newsletters and no promotions — and you can ask us to remove it at any time (see Contact below) and we will.
  • Automatically collected information: our hosting provider may log basic technical data (such as pages visited, browser type, and approximate location) for security and performance purposes.

Cookies and third parties

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are popular). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as pages visited, browser type, and approximate location. Google's use of that data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

When you use the site's search, what you type and how many results it found are sent to Google Analytics too, so we can see which topics people look for and don't find. Please don't type personal information into the search box.

Some browsers let an AI assistant you're using run the site search, the pipe-freeze check, the frost dates lookup, and the generator size calculator for you, through a proposed web standard called WebMCP; the ChatGPT desktop app's built-in browser calls these site tools. They work the same way as when you use them yourself. For those runs, Google Analytics gets only the name of the tool, not what was asked or the answer.

Our articles end with a “Save to Pinterest” link. Nothing loads from Pinterest when you open a page; if you click the link, Pinterest opens in a new tab and its use of your data is governed by Pinterest's Privacy Policy.

We use Amazon affiliate links. When you click one, Amazon may set cookies to track the referral so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases. Amazon's use of that data is governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate the site (e.g., our hosting provider).

Your choices

You can contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you or to request its deletion.

Turn off analytics in this browser

This switch stops the site from loading Google Analytics in the browser you're using now, starting with the next page you open. Your choice is saved in this browser's local storage, so it applies only to this browser on this device, and it resets if you clear this site's data. It doesn't affect Amazon's cookies.

Two small notes the site can hide stay hidden by a setting kept only in your browser: the freeze-season banner (saved in local storage) and the “Our pick” bar on gear guides (saved for the current visit only). Neither is sent anywhere.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
